House parties?

What is your take on house parties for newbies?

Like today my friend and I were sitting near him and his girlfriend and his best friend at lunch and they were staring at me and he started laughing, and when I looked over, he grabbed his girlfriend and started kissing her.

And it's awkward because he doesn't know I know that he knows I like him and his girlfriend hates me, and he's being kind of a dick about it.

He is extremely busy (2 jobs and a son). I just don't know what I should do.
