How can I get a guy I like to notice me and potentially break up with his girlfriend and date me instead?

The guy I like is my BFF and when I was about to tell him I like him he just started dating this other girl.

I know I started this mess but I was also truly hurt . I never thought he would completely just disregard something that I view important birthdays and holidays.

I guess I truly want to work it out but I want him to want it as well. super sad but restraining myself from reaching out to him. it has been 5 days since the split and 3 days since we have communicated. do you think he s trying to let me go?

I told him not to tell me and to do whatever felt natural. ( I meant that in a nice way). since then I have reached out a few times. he responds nicely but he hasn t once reached out to me on his own.

I ended up saying we should just be friends. he seemed ok with it. we talked more he asked if he could call later that night.

Her booked a ticket out of town for two weeks missing my birthday.needless to say we got in a fight.
