I asked a girl out a year ago, she said she was in a relationship, now I bump into her again?

So, given that we weren't really even acquaintances before, why would she now be nicer like that?

That's technically the first time we actually spoke.

This happened again a few days later and she waved at me and said hi.

After returning from my break, I was sitting somewhere and then she walked by, and immediately recognized me and had a smile.

For unrelated reasons, I also had to take a break from university so I didn't see her at all for a year, and pretty much moved on.

So I let her go and didn't try to initiate anything after that.
