My mom is also getting her masters degree in counselling in a couple weeks and that might have something to do with it.

He actually caused a rift between me and my mom and we had to go to family counselling. thankfully there wasn't much of a problem to fix but she still sees the family counselor on an individual basis.

She has no obligations, especially because of what he's doing to our family.

I don't see a reason why she has to do anything else.

The way I see it she should do everything in her power to contact the family and THEN cut him out.

They actually separated for 3 days and he came back suicidal so my mom is in a really bad spot.

The problem is that he has depression and suicidal tendencies.
