I see how much this guy means to my bf and they really do look out for each other, but I find it hard to get past this part of him or that my bf doesn't see how much this is upsetting me.

And I'm trying with my French; I've been going to night classes, downloaded Duolingo and have watched French movies (with subtitles of course) and trying my best to pick it up.

The others in the group usually notice me standing there like an idiot and start talking to me in English again, but if it's just my bf and this guy they could talk for ages without saying a thing to me.

I couldn't care less if they do this when it's just French people, but when I'm around I find it extremely rude and feel as if I'm being purposely excluded from the conversation.

A year and a half later, and even though his English is close to fluent he is the only one out of the French group living here still that will switch a conversation back to French.

Of course his English wasn't what it is now when we met first and he would often switch to French to ask my bf questions and check the conversation.
